counting our blessings

This time of year is a little rough. March marks three years of being in the adoption process and last February my step mom was diagnosed with brain cancer, passing away18 days later. I've been really trying to focus on our blessings, particularly the blessings of the last three years. In somewhat chronological order, here are the biggies God has done for us:

Job security for William at the Seminary!
Amazing church plant and community!
Redeemed our marriage!
Gave us a great house in the most diverse neighborhood in our city!
Gave us an amazing baby girl!
Rocked our world with cancer! (blessing in disguise)
William traveled to Sudan for a second film!
Lindsy no longer working full time!
Cancer free!
Healthy girl!
Beach trip that we could never have afforded!
Fund raising efforts beyond what we imagined!
Referral of our sweet little boy!
New job for William at Southeast Christian Church as the Senior Editor of their new TV show!

He has always done the best for us but I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree with C.S. Lewis! The best has at times been painful but we are still looking ahead with joyful expectation. C'mon 2012.

It was time for a new look and I am so glad to have found Danielle at take heart.

I stumbled across her info on another site and followed her link because she has some fabulous hair. Yep, that's the reason, fabulous hair. But once I saw her design portfolio (and her affordable prices) I knew she had to design our new look. And she's in the process of adopting so I felt good supporting her too!

Spreading the Word

Last fall our Antioch Orphan Care Team had this crazy little idea to host a seminar/conference on orphan care and adoption. At the time, it seemed like a wild dream. Last Saturday it came true.

With over 100 people in attendance, we were all blown away by what God had done with our meager obedience!

And the news came. Which is nice. Except what I said and what they said don't really go together in, ya know, a "story", and they didn't even mention the AMAZING organization that we partnered with to put this shindig on - the Orphan Care Alliance. That is how to get involved in Louisville people. They are what I was talking about. In case you saw it and were wondering...


Why can't I embed this video!?

Big changes are coming to the blog (maybe even tomorrow!) and I'm planning to include resources for churches interested in doing orphan care.

We certainly don't have it all figured out, and we have a whole six months of experience of doing orphan care as a church, but it was so encouraging to meet folks from other churches who want to be obedient. I'd like for our blog to be a resource for them too. Not everyone is called to adopt. I get it. (Didn't say I like it.:-)
