Statistics can be overwhelming. But we shouldn't let them be. Behind every number, every figure, every statistic is a child. A face. A soul. And YOU can help that ONE. You can make an eternal investment in the life of ONE child. Here are some ways to get started:
First, PRAY. Ask God what your role is in living out James 1:27.
Second, network. Someone knows someone who is a foster parent, mentor, adoptive parent, respite provider. Meet with them and ask questions. If you don't know where to start just ask them their story. I promise God will be at work in their story.
Third, give. There are many ways and many places to give to orphan care. You can donate to an adopting family, you can sponsor a child, you can donate to clean water or hunger projects or the list goes on and on. It's not yours, it's His. Are you making eternal investments with His resources?
Fourth, DO SOMETHING. Do not become suffocated by the overwhelming need. The need should compel us. Christ should compel us.
